As a kid I grew up with good values and understanding that helping where and when you can in your everyday life is essential because on day it may be you that needs that help and I would sure want someone to hold a kind hand out to me at that time too.
I was a girls out for 13 years, my whole school career growing up, and we all did a lot of volunteer work but there were 6 of us in my grade that watched a bridging ceremony when we were little daisies and saw that the senior girlscouts gradutating all got 13 roses, one for each year they were in scouts. That memory, funny enough, kept me motivated throughout school to do my best to accomplish everything I needed to do to make that happen. And that has been the general theme I have kept throughout my whole life. If I set a goal, I work as hard as I can to get it.
Today, I have a handsome husband and four beautiful children, two already flown the nest. I have organized and run several successful businesses. I like to spend my spare time adventuring to new places with my kids, gardening and my chickens. I want to give them a chance to see everything beautiful this country has to offer!
One of my favorite books is the Lorax, by Dr. Seuss. Our world is so quickly disappearing before our eyes and “unless someone like you cares a whole lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not.” When I read that quote to my kids I cry every time without fail. Because that line is so very true. So, I’ve always tried to do my best part wherever I can to make this world a better place for you, for me, and for our children and there’s to come after.
I have always been attracted to environmental causes for as far back as I can remember. Fern Gully comes to mind as a movie I watched when I was young with a very strong environmental message about how human kind has such a dramatic effect on nature. I can also remember going to the rainforest exhibit at the zoo where they have a countdown for the acres of forest that are disappearing and thinking to myself that I needed to do everything I could to try to make that number better.
I am a knowledgable gourmet mushroom grower that is passionate about nature and its amazing secrets. I hope that we can bring know how and relive to those who don’t know what else to do to make their land and water more usable once it has been polluted. I am inspired by my kids and this mission is important to me because I like nature and I would like it to be around for future generations to come.
My journey in mycoremediation began when I first learned that the human body consists of 98% foreign microbes, and the fact that I was born in the place that the EPA was also born, due to the Cuyahoga River catching on fire. What better place to start a mycoremediation Mecca because if there is any better place to prove it is here and now also in East Palestine. We can fix this and make a difference. After being met with my own health crisis I learned the importance of chelation of harmful pathogens found in our surrounding environment, mainly our food.
My greatest influence is Paul Stamos. He has spearheaded this kind of research. I am in nonprofit work because the systems set in place are not conducive to the advancement of human kind. In my spare time I play bass in a reggae rock band and went on tour for 3 years.
Understanding the complexity of bringing mycoremediation to a scale this large is a very ambitious project but with the help of the people we help we have the potential to bring back a healthy environment, water and soil and in doing so bring about a real change.
